LION CITY CLAN :36 CHAMBERS

LION CITY CLANS: THE 36 CHAMBERS
Born and bred under absolute autocracy, clans of the City of Lions practice their craft through the years under a shroud of secrecy and constant suppression. Battles blazed through the years, hidden amongst shadows, the sanctity of the silence broken by the sudden spurts of spheres clanging around the shell of a metal can and the innate resonance of pressurized paint escaping its valve. Urban lords and kings claimed their dominions over the streets; attaining kinship over the pugilistic aerosol warriors of their clans.

The fallen, countless in their numbers, weakened in their resolve not in the pursuit of their craft, but to the unattainable path of false idolhood and kingships. Divisions and discord sowed its seeds among these warriors but alas, only the strong shall survive and only the strong has survived the trials and tribulations of their craft. Getting up under the allegiance of the banners once again, the clans unite under the banner of the City of Lions, 36 warriors in their numbers, bearing oaths of their clans but each personifying their 36 styles through their 36 minds evoking the perfection of the 36 Chambers. Styles will clash through the unison of their chosen armaments for today the can will be king, for today THE CAN WILL BE MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD.

LION CITY CLANS: THE 36 CHAMBERS

THE ROJAK RENDEZVOUS

SIGN UP NOW!!!

Singapore, March 2013- Singaporean urban art collective RSCLS is proud to present the Rojak Rendezvous- a 4 day festival celebrating French and Singaporean culture through the medium of urban art. This event is supported by Noise Singapore, an initiative of the National Arts Council that encourages young people in Singapore to express, develop and showcase their creativity.

The festival will see a ménage a trois of a live art jam, master class workshop and artist talk.

Graffiti and street art is a global art phenomenon. Its presence cannot be denied in any city in the world, from Sao Paolo to Surabaya. While the mediums and methodologies employed might be similar, each artist works in the context of their own urban landscape, bound by the geo political nature and social make up of their cities. This creates a diverse landscape of street art practices and experiences.

In an effort to encourage understanding of the art form, French artists Kongo and KA’a and Singaporean artists Antz, Clogtwo, Zero, SKL0 will share their unique practices- artistic practices that have been shaped by the unique urban landscapes of the cities that each artist hails from. From the streets of Narvaland and Paris to the back alleys of Jalan Besar and Arab Street, audiences will be taken on a journey to explore and understand the unique paradox of urban arts through the nozzles of these artists. Join them while they paint, talk and share their experiences, work ethics and methodologies to understand the psyche of these urban artists and how it has shaped and molded their practice throughout the years.
